In early 2020 Riot has released over 1020 regular LoL skins, over 225 Chroma skins, and 150 Ward skins!
With the release. – of the latest Mecha kingdoms event, the official number for active League of Legends skins hit the number of 1028.
At the end of 2019 Rito finally passed the 1000 skin benchmark. And with their recent information that 2020 will be a big year for skins, it is looking rather good for the future.
Recently we have started to get huge skin releases on the PBE servers, in the past, they normally released around 5 new skins in a skin theme. But as of late, a normal PBE cycle includes 12 skins divided into 2-3 skin themes.
In the recent PBE cycle, they added 6 Mecha kingdoms skins, 3 Guardian of the sands skins, 3 Dragonslayer skins, and the standalone Feljord Sylas skin.
Right now we have over 228 individual skins who have received chroma skins. A Chroma skin is a color change to an already existing lol skin. Often giving one to ten different recolors of the base skin.
During the last 6 months, Riot really stepped up their Chroma game aswell. Frequently adding almost as many chromas reworks as they do normal skins. The new standard is that most new 1350 RP skins also come with Chroma options when they are released.
In the latest PBE cycle, we received as mentioned 13 normal skins and of these, 11 had chroma skins released alongside the base skin. In 2020 you can expect Riot to take Chromas to a whole new level. It is the absolute best way for them to create uniqueness in their game. People are seemingly loving the expansion of the chroma system because it lets players have a big variety of cosmetics to choose from.
As of this moment, Riot has released over 150 Ward skins. A ward skin simply changes the look of your in-game ward. 150 different varieties is a pretty big number.
This tells me that Ward skins are becoming really popular as an additional way to customize your in-game looks through cosmetics.
For example, the Riot Ward skin is one of our most sold products right now. It is the only skin code still given out and working. You simply obtain it from a Rioter and can add it to your account in-game.
In 2020 we expect that we will see many new ward skins aswell. Riot has officially stated that 2020 will be the biggest year for skins, all around.
